How to NOT Waste Time

I’m going to give you a cold, hard fact:

You can NEVER get time back!

I see people wasting time like they’re going to get it back any day, but you can’t.

So, why are you acting like there is plenty of time?

Time flies guys, it doesn’t wait for anyone.

It keeps going until you never see time again.

Think about this…

  1. Life is based on precious moments
  2. Those moments are based on precious minutes
  3. And those minutes are based on precious seconds

See what I’m saying?

You have to realize that if you want to live a good life, that you can’t waste any time.

Now, nobody’s perfect, as some of the most successful people have trouble managing their time, but they try to do their best.

Which is what really counts.

The good thing is, that I’m going to show you how you can manage your time much more effectively than you did before.

So, here we go:

1. Realize what is wasting your time

In order to know how to manage your time and not waste it, you have to be aware of what you waste the time on.

I’ll give you a quick list of time-wasters:

  1. Social Media(Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, SnapChat)
  2. Surfing the Internet
  3. Television
  4. Talking about useless stuff

Let’s go more in-depth here:

  • Social Media

Social media can be a good thing and a bad thing.

It just depends how you use it.

The tough thing about social media is that once you’re on it, it’s very hard to get off.

It’s global, so you’re going to want to see what other people are doing and how they’re  living their lives.

That is wasting time.

According to bigthink, the average human spends 41% of their lives staring at a screen.

That is almost half!


  • Surfing the Internet

Like social media, the Internet has it’s good and bad.

A good part would be that you can access anything you want on it, and the bad part is that it can get addicting.

This used to be an awful habit of mine.

I remember not too long ago, I would just get on the web and search stuff on it.

It would be stuff like:

  1. Celebrities
  2. Cities
  3. Culture
  4. Random People
  5. Sports

None of that stuff is bad to search up, but I would do it for hours.

And, when I would go to sleep, I would realize that I wasted my whole day searching useless things on the web.

So, learn from my mistake, and don’t search the Internet for hours.


  • Television

The things we waste our time on are very fun, but they can be very addicting at times.

Television for example, is very pleasurable, but if you do too much, then life won’t be good to you.

Whether it’s playing video games, or watching your favorite show series on Netflix, remember that you can take control.

This is personally one of my biggest flaws of mine because video games are fun, yet you feel wasted by the time you’re done.

You see our brain always looks towards pleasure instead of pain.

The crazy part is that you should always seek pain in order to live an accomplished life.

But, you will need the mental strength in order to seek pain.

So, be disciplined!


  • Talking about useless stuff

This also used to be one of my biggest flaws in managing time.

But, I learned that if you want to stop talking about useless things, then just get out!!!

Simple, but not easy.

But, if you don’t want to waste time, take control of it.

Being aware of what you spend a lot of your time on can help you almost instantly.

It’s because you can then find ways to stay off of those things, or replace them with better things you can do.

2. Create a schedule for yourself

Or give yourself a plan.

I personally do this by creating a to-do list of  the stuff I need to do for that specific day.

That way, I won’t be able to spend time on things that won’t benefit me in the long-term.

I also try to sleep and wake up at a certain time(although I’m not good at it.)

Just to let you know, planning and scheduling yourself is one of the most effective ways you can manage your time in a responsible manner.


3. Replace that wasted time with something useful

I have an article on things you can do if you’re bored.

So, I recommend you to read it if you didn’t.

Anyway, this world is huge with so many opportunities to excel.

Go after those opportunities.

By the time you have read this, you have used about 4-5 minutes of your time, which was a wise thing to do.

I’m not saying that any of the items I mentioned above are bad, but do it moderately.

In other words, don’t spend your whole day doing those things.

Everyone needs some down time, but too much is not good.

One of the major differences between successful and mediocre people is that successful people know how to use their time to their advantage.

Because everyone has the same amount of hours in a day, but the successful person is more willing to wake up a little earlier than the mediocre person.

Don’t forget to implement this because if you don’t, then it’s just another piece of useless information to you!

As Albert Einstein says it:

” The only source of knowledge is experience.”
