“Self-improvement is the name of the game, and your primary objective is to strengthen yourself, not to destroy an opponent.”

-Maxwell Matz

Investing in yourself is the BEST investment you can ever make.

When you invest in yourself, you become stronger, better, and more of the person you strive to be.

Even when you’re at the top, that doesn’t mean you should stop.

When you’re at your peak, you should take even more steps that could make you rise even higher.

Now, there are many ways to invest in yourself, but here are the main ways to start your journey NOW:

1. Read Books

“There is no friend as loyal as a book.”

-Ernest Hemingway

When I started this habit, I didn’t know how much value a book can hold.

I used to think that reading books was a waste of time, but it’s really not.

Matter of fact, the most accomplished and successful people in the world read books.

Examples such as Oprah Winfrey, Bill Gates, and Elon Musk make time each day to read books.

But, they don’t just read any books.

The most beneficial books people can read are self-help books and biographies.

I will show you a MUST-READ list of books:

  1. The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People – Stephen Covey
  2. Think And Grow Rich – Napoleon Hill
  3. Dreams From My Father : A Story of Race and Inheritance – Former U.S President Barack Obama
  4. The Positive Way To Change Your Life – Norman Vincent Peale

Personal Review:

All of those books gave me many “aha” moments. In those books, I’ve been able to look through the perspectives of the great people who wrote the books that permanently changed my way of thinking. By the way, I highly recommend you read EACH and EVERY one of them.

Books I want to read so bad(and will read soon)

  1. Awaken The Giant Within – Anthony Robbins
  2. How to Win Friends & Influence People – Dale Carnegie
  3. Steve Jobs : The Man Who Thought Different : A Biography – Karen Blumenthal

2. Set Goals

“Setting goals is the first step in turning the invisible into the visible.”

-Anthony Robbins

Goals are like destinations…

If you don’t have goals, you will most likely drift through your life, which is NOT what powerful people do.

The legends of modern history wanted to make an impact on the world, and they did it by setting goals and deadlines in order to make it happen.

So, what I want you to do is to write down the type of person you would want to be.

Make it as specific as you possibly can.

Once you do that, create goals that can make you become the person you’ve always wanted to be and take action on them.

3. Build Your Confidence

“You just have to be yourself and go full with confidence and be courageous.”

-Gabby Douglas

Confidence is the most important feature of a person.

If you don’t have confidence, life will NOT be treating you well.

You need confidence for making relationships, getting jobs, and just making yourself happy.

4. Get Uncomfortable

“Be not afraid of discomfort. If you can’t put yourself in a situation where you are uncomfortable, then you will never grow. You will never change. You’ll never learn.”

-Jason Reynolds

When you make a stride towards discomfort, you grow.

Even if it’s as little as 1%, change happens.

And, if you continue to do it consistently, you will become a whole new person.

Make being uncomfortable a habit of yours.

5. Learn New Things

“Learning is not attained by chance, it must be sought for with ardor and diligence.”

-Abigail Adams

Successful people NEVER stop learning.

They seek knowledge that they can apply to their lives in order to be better.

They know that the day they stop learning is the day they stop growing.

Make striving to be your best a mindset for you.

When you develop that mindset, no one can stop you.

6. Take Care of Yourself

“To love oneself is the beginning of a life-long romance.”

-Oscar Wilde

When you take care and value yourself, you’re already making a positive investment.

You can’t get anything done if you don’t love yourself.

So, if you truly love yourself, you would take care of yourself.

Here are some ways to take care of yourself:

  1. Physical – Exercising, getting enough sleep, and eating right
  2. Mental – Using positive self-talk and practicing visualization.
  3. Spiritual –  Helping others and being grateful.

When you do those simple things, you will develop self-love.

For your homework assignment, I want you to answer 2 questions.

Here are the questions:

1. From now on, are you willing to invest in yourself?

2. What are ways you can improve yourself RIGHT NOW?

They are to be submitted with a comment on the answers you said.

This is not mandatory, this is just so YOU can improve.

Conclusion

A cartoon drawing of people.

Strive to be the best you can be and learn from the best.

Live your life as if you are truly mortal and make it the best life you can possibly live.

And the only way to do this is to invest in yourself.

Trust me, when you start, you will see life from a whole different perspective.

“We must become the change we want to see.”

-Mahatma Gandhi

Always remember that YOU are UNSTOPPABLE!!!

Sincerely,

Geary Erua.
